“A few years ago I was challenged to move my work into a more abstract vein. The ‘Lyrica’ series (a series of 24 paintings, many of which were showcased in the recent ‘Site Specific’ show) exhibits the marriage of my classical training with a more abstract aesthetic. While still working directly from the model, my direction is to capture more than just a likeness and a painting ‘of’ the figure, and move towards a painting ‘with’ a figure.”
